The Mentor
A mentor will help their mentee have hope in life, develop leadership skills, explore career paths, bridge the gap between parents/teachers and the child, and subsequently become change-makers and mentor the next generation. The ultimate goal is to have a generation of confident people who are active contributors to society.
Mentor Qualifications
Maisha Yangu Organization is looking for committed mentors who champion children and youth empowerment. To be eligible, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Finished your higher learning or are enrolled in a university/college pursuing a degree from any field of study.
- Have transferable skills.
- Experience in various professions.
The Mentees
The mentees will be from schools in Kawangware and are in grades 6, 7, and 8 for primary and all classes in secondary school.
Meeting Frequency
The mentorship meetings take place at the Maisha Yangu centre once a week for 2-3 hours and virtually for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
